Learn how creating tree stewards and promote tree canopy can make community stronger, healthier, and more beautiful. This program will focus on key UFI public resources, namely the “Adopt a Tree” program, and an open source “Tree Gallery” with datasheet and visuals to teach about tree facts a wide audience. Learn about opportunities to get involved with UFI initiatives for urban tree canopy improvement in Lexington, including Canopy Con, a new volunteer program called “UFI Tree Corps”, and Tree Week.
The Urban Forest Initiative (UFI) is a collaborative group of University of Kentucky and Kentucky community stakeholders whose purpose is to promote and protect the urban tree canopy on the UK campus, in Lexington, and throughout the region. UFI is dedicated to maintaining the current tree canopy while promoting and planning for our future urban forests. We strive to raise awareness of the ecological, social, and economic benefits provided by urban trees.
