The Heart of the Turf: Racing's Black Pioneers highlights the lives & careers of 80 African American horsemen and -women from the mid-1800s to the present. Join us during Secretariat Week in the Kentucky Room for a presentation by the exhibit's curator, Roda Ferrero, and learn about the stories of racetrack superstars, behind-the-scenes caretakers, and countless other African Americans who forged their way in Kentucky and beyond, making the racing industry what it is today.
