This program is part of Art Beat, a weeklong celebration of the arts in Lexington.
Join us for a fun, hands-on musical adventure! In this workshop, kids ages nine and up will explore the exciting world of the orchestra and its instrument families — strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Through an instrument Petting Zoo, participants will get to see, hear, and even try out real instruments to discover how each one makes its unique sound and why it belongs to its musical “family.”
We’ll also dive into the basics of musical writing, learning how notes, rhythms, and symbols come together to create music. By the end, every young musician will have a new appreciation for the orchestra — and maybe even a favorite instrument to play!
Feel the pulse of creativity by joining us at Lexington Public Library for a week-long celebration of artistic expression filled with workshops, demonstrations, and performances tailored to a wide range of age groups and interests. Each day we will celebrate a different art form, including written and spoken word, drama, dance, visual arts, and music.
