A monthly Sunday matinee
Come to Central Library for a monthly Sunday movie matinee.
Based on George Orwell's prescient classic, 1984 stars John Hurt, Suzanna Hamilton, and Richard Burton, in his last screen appearance.
Winston Smith is a low-ranking civil servant in a war-torn London ruled by Oceania, a totalitarian super-state. Smith struggles to maintain his sanity and his grip on reality as the regime's overwhelming power and influence persecute individualism and individual thinking on both a political and a personal level. Smith attempts to rebel by starting an illicit affair with his fellow party worker Julia.
